 
                    John Murphy
                                    
                                John Murphy is a Vancouver writer, director, producer and actor. As an actor, he has performed in theatres across Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. In 2007 he received a Jessie Award nomination for best actor (The Optimists). Murphy was co-founder of Gut-Wrench, a Vancouver sketch comedy group (1998–2003). In 2007 he wrote and performed his one-man sketch comedy show, Maniac, which premiered at the Nakai Comedy Arts Festival. He has written an adaptation of Ben Jonson’s Volpone, which he also directed, and his new play, True Story, will premiere at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre in fall 2008. Murphy is co-founder of ( r )evolution theatre, which he co-founded with his friend and creative partner, Jonathan Ryder.
