Oriko "Okko" Seki is a 12-year-old girl who had recently lost her parents due to a car accident. She is brought in by her grandmother who is the Landlady of a traditional Japanese inn. Initially, she is coaxed into inheriting her grandmother's inn by a "uribou"; a talking spirit, but later becomes determined to uphold those expectations.
