One of Yugi's classmates and owner of the Millennium Ring, which he received as a gift from his father, an archaeologist. He is initially quiet and reserved. Ryou shows a strong interest in the occult; he runs an occult-themed deck, and writes letters to his deceased sister, Amane. After receiving the ring, strange accidents befall those around him, and he begins to act less and less like himself.
