Sara is a young (seven at the series' beginning) English girl who has lived in India for most of her life. While her mother is dead, she loves her wealthy father dearly and is sad to leave him to attend boarding school. However, she is very optimistic and is able to make the best of her situation even when tragedy threatens to strike.
Sara prefers reading to most traditional childhood games and can read books that are much harder than one would expect a little girl to read. Because of this, she's also extremely intelligent, and quickly becomes the school's star pupil. She has a huge imagination which she uses to make up stories that captivate her classmates. When she's in bad situations, she also uses her talent to imagine that things are better.
